Drainage and Ducting at The Mersey Gateway Project

MCCJV (Mersey Crossing Company Joint Venture) is a joint venture company set up by Kier, FCC and Samsung for the construction of a new £600m toll bridge over the River Mersey between Runcorn and Widnes with extensive remodelling of existing carriageway’s and new road construction linking to the M56 Motorway.

McFour Ltd were engaged by MCCJV to deliver the installation of all the drainage and ducting required on the contract. This role includes the installation of drainage ranging from 100mm to 2100mm at depths up to 9m deep. These works have been completed in challenging ground conditions including the dealing with excavation through highly contaminated post-industrial brownfield ground on the Widnes side, and large sections of sandstone rock excavation on the Runcorn side of the project.
