McFour were engaged by Kier to undertake all drainage and earthworks to the existing central reserve, and sections of the verge adjacent to the carriageway over a length of 26km. Drainage up to 900mm with depths in excess of 5m were undertaken, with changeable ground conditions ranging from sandstone rock to running sand, which entailed extensive pumping. All existing infrastructure from within the central reserve was excavated / broken out, and reused within the project where possible, with the rest of the material being removed from site to licenced tip.
